- What time do classes start?
Normal education classes start and end according to the course schedule determined by our university senate. For the 2023/2024 Academic Year, class start times are 08:30, and our college course schedules are published on our website. Classes are 45 minutes long.
- Can a normal education student attend evening classes, or can an evening education student attend normal classes?
No.
- What is the content of the English Proficiency exam?
The proficiency exam is a B1+ level exam covering basic English, reading, listening, writing, and speaking skills. The proficiency exam is held at the beginning of the Fall and Spring semesters on dates determined in the academic calendar. To take the Spring Proficiency exam, the student must have attended classes and achieved a 70-grade average.
- How can I access information about the Proficiency Exam?
Students can learn the location, date, and time information or details of the relevant exam from the announcements section of the School of Foreign Languages website.
- I passed the proficiency exam. Can I still continue with the preparatory program?
No.
- How is the registration freezing process done?
Students can obtain information about the registration freezing process from the student affairs of their respective faculties.
- Can I take the proficiency exams held that year if I freeze my registration?
To take the proficiency exam, they must be in active student status.
- I declared that I want to study the preparatory program optionally. Can I change my decision later?
Students can notify their requests to continue their education in their units by submitting a petition to the college directorate within the period specified in the academic calendar.
- Do those who study the preparatory program optionally take classes in different sections?
In our school, compulsory and optional department students are placed in their classes with the placement tests conducted at the beginning of the year, take classes in separate classes, and are subject to separate exams.
- I will receive education optionally. Do I have an attendance obligation?
There is an attendance obligation in all sections of the English Preparatory Program. However, even if optional department students do not meet the success or attendance requirement, they can start their departments in the next academic year. However, they cannot receive a preparatory certificate.
- Will I be able to receive a certificate of achievement when I complete the English Preparatory Program?
All students who successfully complete the program can receive a certificate of achievement. Students who have attended the preparatory education but have not shown sufficient success are given a certificate of participation in the preparatory education. Students who fail due to absenteeism in the preparatory program are not given a certificate of achievement or participation.
- What are the options for students who continue the English Preparatory Program and cannot complete this program successfully at the end of an academic year?
Students in departments where the preparatory is not compulsory have the right to continue their departments in the next academic year if they fail.
Students of faculties/departments/programs where the preparatory is compulsory have the right to take the Fall Exemption exam held at the beginning of each academic year if they fail. Students who want to take the Spring Exemption exam held at the beginning of the Spring semester must have attended classes in the Fall semester and achieved a 70-grade average. Compulsory preparatory students can continue preparatory education for a maximum of 2 academic years.
Students of faculties/departments/programs where the preparatory is compulsory can complete the preparatory by improving their foreign language skills on their own and presenting the scores they have obtained from internationally valid exams accepted by the University Senate if they cannot complete the preparatory.
Students of faculties/departments/programs where the preparatory is compulsory can apply to the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) to be placed in an equivalent program with Turkish as the language of instruction at another university if they cannot complete the preparatory within the legal period given to them.
- What is the procedure for obtaining a report in case of illness?
Students who cannot attend exams due to illness must prove this with a report indicating their illness. Reports must be submitted to the student affairs of the School of Foreign Languages with a petition within 3 working days at the latest from the end date of the report period. Reports that do not comply with the procedure mentioned above will be considered invalid. Reports are only for the make-up of exams. Reports are not valid for absenteeism.
- If our teacher is late, does the class get canceled?
No. Unless the college administration states that the class will not be held that day, you are expected to wait for the class to start.
- If the entire class does not come to the lesson, is the lesson canceled?
No. The student's absence does not make this possible.
- Can my friend come to the class as a guest?
Students who are not in the Preparatory Program are not allowed to attend the class.
